Filmed interview with Hodding Carter III conducted for Eyes on the Prize. Discussion centers on the integration battles in Mississippi, the segregationist power structure, White Citizens councils, Thomas P. Brady, James Meredith's integration of the University of Mississippi and his newspaper (Delta Democrat-Times) and its sympathy for the civil rights movement.
The original interview elements, 16mm negative and 1/4" audio reel to reel, were preserved during 2010-2016 due to the generosity of a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. As part of an internal process, the preserved film were digitized to create 10-bit uncompressed SD files and the preserved full coat magnetic elements were digitized to create 24-bit 96kHz .wav files. The picture and audio were then reassembled at the Film & Media Archive.
