                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <lb/>
                        <persName>John Titus</persName> as principal and <persName>Charles Scott</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security are sealed &amp; firmly bound unto the State of <lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the sum of two hundred dollars each, <lb/>
                        that is to say the said <persName>John Titus</persName> as principal and in <lb/>
                        the sum of two hundred dollars and the said <lb/>
                        <persName>Charles Scott</persName> as security in the sum of two <lb/>
                        hundred dollars for the true payment of which <lb/>
                        sums well &amp; truly to be made the said <persName>John</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as principal &amp; the said <persName>Charles Scott</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security hereby bind themselves their heirs <lb/>
                        executors, &amp; administrators firmly by these <lb/>
                        presents sealed with their seal &amp; dated this <lb/>
                        <date when="1843-05-04">fourth day of May AD 1843</date>
                    </p>
                    <p>Now the condition of this Bond is such <lb/>
                        that whereas the County Court of St Louis <lb/>
                        County hath granted to the above bounden <lb/>
                        <persName>John</persName> a license to reside &amp; remain in the <lb/>
                        State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> according to the statute in <lb/>
                        such case made &amp; provided
                    </p>
                    <p>Now if said <persName>John</persName> shall be of good behaviour <lb/>
                        while he remains in said state then this bond <lb/>
                        to be void otherwise to remain in full force
                    </p>
