                    <p>Know all men by these presents that<lb/>
                        We <add place="above">
                     <persName>Lucinda Perkins</persName> as principal--</add> 
                  <persName>Elias B Smith</persName> + <persName>William J.M. Knight</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    <add place="margin">as security</add> of the city and County of S Louis are held<lb/>
                    and firmly bound to the state of Missouri<lb/>
                    in the found sum of one thousand Dollars<lb/>
                    for which sum well and truly to be<lb/>
                    paid we bind ourselves our heirs<lb/>
                    executors &amp; administrators firmly by<lb/>
                    these presents sealed with our<lb/>
                    seals and <unclear unit="words" quantity="1"/> this <date when="1846-12-08">8th day of Dec 1846</date>
                  <lb/>
                    </p>
                    <p>The conditions of the above<lb/>
                    bond was such that wehreas the<lb/>
                    <persName>Lucinda Perkins</persName> a free person of Colour<lb/>
                    has obtained above to remain in<lb/>
                    the state of Missouri Now if the said <lb/>
                    <persName>Lucinda</persName> shall demean herself well <lb/>
                    and be of good behaviour Then this <lb/>
                        obligation shall be void otherwise<lb/>
                    to be and remain in full force and<lb/>
                    virtue Signed sealed and delivered in<lb/>
                    presence of us</p>
