You are hereby commanded to summon John Lambard William Clark that setting aside all manner of excuse and delay, they be and appear in proper person before the Judge of our Circuit Court , forthwith at the town of St. Louis , then and there to testify and the truth to say in a certain matter of controversy now pending in our said Court, wherein The State of Missouri is plaintiff and Joseph Labarge is defendant on the part of the Plaintiff and have you then there this writ.

Grand Jury Indictment of Defendant Joseph Labarge Gray, Alexander The State of Missouri Labarge, Joseph Gamble, Archibald St. Louis Circuit Court December Term Eighteen Hundred and Twenty In the Circuit Court County of St. Louis to Writ:

The jurors, for the state of Missouri upon their oath present that Joseph Laberge , Late of the said county of St. Louis Grocer on the first day of July in the year of our lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty, with force and arm at the county of St. Louis aforesaid a large quantity of Beaver skins to wit, eighteen packs of Beaver Skins , of Great value, to writ of the value of three hundred dollars for, each pack of the goods & Chattles, of Joshna Pilcher, , Joseph Perkins , Andrew woods, Moses, Carson, , John B , & Thomas Hempstead , , the surviving, partners of a company of Fur Traders, using the style & firm, of the Missouri Fur Company " then and there being found did steal take and carry, away con trary to the statute in such case made and provided, and against the peace and Dignity of the ( United States of America ) and of the state.

and the jurors, aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do further Prevant - that the said Joseph Lambarge, on the first, day of July in the year eighteen hundred & Twenty, with force, and arms, at St Louis in the County aforesaid unlawfully and unjustly did recieve, & have a large quantity of Beaver skins, to wit eighteen packs of beaver, skins of great value to wit of the value of three, hundred dollars for each pack and a large, quantity of racoon, Skins to wit two packs of racoon, skins of great value to writ of the value of one. hundred dollars for each, pack of the goods & chattels, of Joshua Pilcher , Joseph Perkins , , Andrew Woods Moses, Carson, John B & Thomas Hempstead , the survivng, partners of a company of Fur Traders using the style and Form of "the Missouri Fur , Company then lately, before feloniously, stolen taken and carried away by one late the slave of Samuel , deceased, he the said Josep Labergo then & then and knowing the same to be stolen, and unlawfully came, by contrary, to the states, in such case, made and provided
