                    <p>Know all men by these presents, that we <persName>Elizabeth Nora,</persName>
                  <lb/>
                        a free woman of Color, as principal; and <persName> George Geyer</persName>,<lb/>&gt;
                    alias <persName>George Johnson</persName>; a free man of color, as security; court<lb/>
                    of the City &amp; County of St. Louis; in the state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> are<lb/>
                        held and firmly bound to the state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, in the sum of<lb/>
                    four Hundred Dollar: to wit: the said Elizabeth, in the sum of<lb/>
                    two hundred Dollars and the said <persName>George Geyer;</persName> alias<lb/>
                    <persName>Geroge Johnson,</persName> in teh sum of two hundred Dollars to the<lb/>
                    payment of which said sums of money we bind ourselves<lb/>
                     our &amp; each of our heirs, executors and administrators; jointly<lb/>
                    &amp; severally by those presents. Sealed with our seals this<lb/>
                    <date when="1843-05-04">fourth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen<lb/>
                    hundred &amp; forty three.</date>
               </p>
                <p>The condition of the above obligation is such; whereas, <lb/>
                the said Elizabether Nora; has this day obtained from this<lb/>
                County Court of St. Louis, County, a license to remain in this state<lb/>
                under the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of<lb/>
                the state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, entitled an act, more effectually to<lb/>
                prevent free persons of color from coming into this state +<lb/>
                for other purposes: Now, therefore, if the said <persName>Elizabether Nora</persName>;<lb/>
                shall be of good behaviour; during the continuance  of said <lb/>
                    license, thru the above obligation to be void, attornies to<lb/>
                reside &amp; remain in full force &amp; virtue.</p>
