Brant</persName> as security are held <lb/> and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri, in the sum of <lb/> two hundred dollars each for the true payment of which <lb/> we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators firmly <lb/> by these presents sealed with our seals this <date when="1843-05-03">third day of <lb/> May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred <lb/> and forty-three</date>. </p> <p>The condition of the above obligation is such <lb/> that whereas the County Court begun and held for the <lb/> County of S Louis and State of Missouri has this day <lb/> granted to the above named <persName>Bird Wade</persName> a free person <lb/> of color, a license to reside in the State of Missouri. <lb/> Now if the said <persName>Bird Wade</persName> shall well and truly demean <lb/> himself and be of good behavior then this bond to be <lb/> null and void otherwise to remain in full force and <lb/> virtue </p> <closer> Attest<lb/> <signed>La.
