                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>William<lb/>
                        Jones</persName> as principal and <persName>Orin Smith</persName> as security<lb/>
                    are held and firmly bound unto the State of Missouri<lb/>
                    in the just and full sum of Two hundred dollars<lb/>
                    for the payment of which sum of money we bind<lb/>
                    ourselves our heirs executors administrators and assigns<lb/>
                    jointly and severally by these presents sealed<lb/>
                    with our seals and dated this <date when="1843-06-19">nineteenth day<lb/>
                        of June Eighteen hundred and forty three</date>
                  <lb/>
                    the condition of this obligation is such<lb/>
                    that whereas <persName>William Jones</persName> has this<lb/>
                    day obtained from the County Court of<lb/>
                    Saint  Louis County a license to remain in<lb/>
                    the Sate of Missouri as a free person of color <lb/>
                    under the provisions of an act Entitled "an<lb/>
                    act more effectually to prevent free persons of <lb/>
                    color from entering into the Sate and<lb/>
                    other purposes" Now the condition of <lb/>
                    this bond is such that of the said <persName>Williams Jones</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    shall be of good behaviour during the <lb/>
                    continuance of said license then the <lb/>
                    above obligations to be void. Otherwise to <lb/>
                    remain in full force and virtue in Law</p>
