                     <p>Know all men by these presents, that We <lb/>
                     <persName>Parker Campbell</persName> + <persName>Margaret</persName> his wife<lb/>
                         as principals and <persName>H.J. Beer</persName> + <persName>Thomas G <lb/>
                         Martin</persName> as securities are haled and firmly<lb/>
                     bound unto the State of Missouri, <del rend="strikethrough"> are held<lb/>
                     <unclear unit="chars" quantity="4"></unclear></del> in the sum of two Hundred Dollars<lb/>
                     each to be paid to the states of Missouri<lb/>
                     for which payment well + truly to be<lb/>
                     made, we do hereby bindourselves, our<lb/>
                     heirs, executors, adminsitrators, and <lb/>
                     Every of them firmly by these presents.<lb/>
                     seadled with our seals, and dated <lb/>
                     this <date when="1843-05-01"> first day of May AD Eighteen<lb/>
                     Hundred + Forty three.</date></p>
                    <p>The conditions of this obligation<lb/>
                     is such that whereas this county<lb/>
                    court of St. Louis Coutly has this<lb/>
                    day granted tothe said <persName>Margaret<lb/>
                    Campbell</persName> a free coloured woman<lb/>
                    wife of <persName>Parker Campbell</persName> a <unclear unit="chars" quantity="1"></unclear> coloured<lb/>
                        man - a lice3nse to <del rend="strikethrough"><unclear unit="chars" quantity="1"></unclear></del> reside in<lb/>
                            this state. Now therefore if the said<lb/>
                            Margaret Campbell during her residence<lb/>
                            in this said stateof Missouri shall<lb/>
                            <unclear unit="words" quantity="2"></unclear>+ truly conduct herself and a<lb/>
                             peaceeable - sober - honest + upright Manner<lb/>
                            then this obligation to be void, + of no<lb/>
                            effect_ or otherwise to be in full force<lb/>
                            + virtue in Law</p>
