William Clark complains of Charles Bourguion , for this, that the said Charles at the District aforesaid, on the thirteenth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and nine, by his certain promissory note of that date by him with his own proper hand writing , marks, or Signature then and there pal made and subscribed promised the plaintiffs as follows - on demand I promised "to pay to Gen William Clark , agent for the " Missouri fur company as his order the and “full sum of the hundred and Seventy six Dollars “and sixty seven are
