                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <lb/>
                        <persName>Robert Motts</persName> as principal and <persName>Absalom <lb/>
                        Cox</persName> as security are held &amp; firmly bound <lb/>
                        unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the sum <lb/>
                        of Four Hundred dollars, that is <lb/>
                        to say <persName>Robert Motts</persName> is bound in the <lb/>
                        sum of Two Hundred Dollars_ and <lb/>
                        the said <persName>Absalom Cox</persName> in the sum <lb/>
                        of Two Hundred Dollars. The <lb/>
                        payment of which well &amp; truly to <lb/>
                        be made, we bind ourselves, our <lb/>
                        heirs, executors &amp; administrators, and <lb/>
                        each &amp; every of them firmly by these <lb/>
                        presents. Sealed with our <lb/>
                        seals &amp; dated this <date when="1843-05-04">Fourt day of <lb/>
                        May AD Eighteen Hundred and <lb/>
                        Forty three</date>.
                    </p>
                    <p>The condition of this obliga- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        tion is such, that whereas the <lb/>
                        County Court of St Louis County has <lb/>
                        this day granted to the said <persName>Robert <lb/>
                        Motts</persName>- a license to reside within <lb/>
                        the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>; now if the <lb/>
                        said <persName>Robert Motts</persName>, during his <lb/>
                        residence in the said State <lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, shall be of good <lb/>
                        behaviour, then this obligation <lb/>
                        to be void, otherwise to remain <lb/>
                        in full force &amp; virtue in law
