                    <p>Know all men by their presents that <persName>Mary<lb/>
                        Ann Steel</persName> as principal and <persName>Benjamin B <lb/>
                            Brown</persName> as security are held and firmly bound<lb/> 
                        unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the final sum<lb/>
                        of two hundred Dollars for the payment<lb/>
                        of which well and truly to be made we<lb/>
                        bind ourselves our heirs executors and<lb/>
                        administrators firmly  by their presents signed<lb/>
                        with our hands and sealed with our seals<lb/>
                        respectively this <date when="1843-05-01">first day of May AD 1843</date>-<lb/>
                        Now the condition of this bond is such<lb/>
                        that wheras the above bonnder <persName> Mary<lb/>
                            Ann Steel</persName> hath this day been <unclear unit="chars" quantity="7"/>
                        by the County Court <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> bond of<lb/>
                        the County of Saint Louis and State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>

                        to reside and remain in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> 
                  <lb/>
                        according to the <unclear unit="chars" quantity="6"/> in such can made<lb/>
                        and provided have if the above bonnder<lb/>
                        <persName>Mary Ann Steel</persName> shall be of good behavior<lb/>
                        and of peaceable and <sic>ordily</sic>

                        -duct during her residence in said state<lb/>
                        this bond to be void otherwise to remain<lb/>
