                    <p>Know all men by these presents that I <persName>Sarah <lb/>
                        Brown</persName> as principal and <persName>Charles Peynter</persName> as secu- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        rity are held and firmly bound, unto the State <lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the penal sum of four hundred <lb/>
                        dollars for the payment of which sum well <lb/>
                        and truly to be made the said <persName>Sarah Brown</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as principal, and the said <persName>Charles Peynter</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security hereby bind themselves, their heirs <lb/>
                        executors and administrators, firmly by these <lb/>
                        presents, sealed with their seals and dated <lb/>
                        this <date when="1843-05-04">fourth day of May_ 1843</date>. _ Now <lb/>
                        the condition of this Bond is such that whereas <lb/>
                        the County Court of Saint Louis County, hath <lb/>
                        granted to the above named bounden <persName>Sarah <lb/>
                        Brown</persName> a license to reside and remain in the <lb/>
                        State of Missouri according to the Statute in <lb/>
                        such case made and provided. _ Now <lb/>
                        if the said <persName>Sarah Brown</persName> shall be of good <lb/>
                        behavior while she remains in said State <lb/>
                        then this Bond to be void, otherwise to remain <lb/>
                        in full force.
