                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>Margaret</persName>(a<lb/>
                    free woman of color) as principal and <persName>James Boal</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    as security both of the City of Saint Louis and State<lb/>
                    of Missouri Do Acknowledge Ourselves held and <lb/>
                        firmly bound unto the State of Missouri in the sum<lb/>
                        of Two Hundred Dollars <add place="above">each <unclear unit="word" quantity="1" rend="strikethrough">and</unclear> and severally</add> good and lawful Money of<lb/>
                        United States, to be paid to the State of Missouri, which<lb/>
                        payment well and truly to be made we bind our<lb/>
                        selves our heirs executors and administrators, firmly<lb/>
                        by these presents Sealed with our Seals_ dated this <lb/>
                        <date when="1843-06-21">Twenty first day of June in the year of our Lord<lb/>
                            one Thousand eight Hundred and forty Three</date>
                  <lb/>
                            The Condition of this obligation is such, that if the above bound <persName>Margaret</persName>-(free woman of colour) shall be<lb/>
                         of good behaviour and demean herself in all<lb/>
                        respects as a quiet peaceable and orderly so long<lb/>
                        as she shall reside in this State; Then This obligation<lb/>
                        to be void, otherwide to remain and be in full force<lb/>
                        and virtue</p>
