                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>Har- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        rison Taylor</persName> as principal and <persName>B.M. Grover</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security are held and firmly bound unto <lb/>
                        the State of Missouri in the sum of two hun- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        dred dollars for the true payment of which <lb/>
                        we bind ourselves our heirs executors and ad- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        ministrators firmly by these presents sealed <lb/>
                        with our seals this <date when="1843-05-04">fourth day May in <lb/>
                        the year 1843</date>
                    </p>
                    <p>The condition of the above obligation <lb/>
                        is such that whereas the County Court for <lb/>
                        the County of St Louis and State of Missou- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        -ri has this <date when="1843-05-04">fourth of May 1843</date> granted <lb/>
                        to the above mentioned <persName>Harrison Taylor</persName> a <lb/>
                        <del rend="strikethrough">license to reside</del> free man of color a li- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        cense to reside in the State of Missouri <lb/>
                        Now if the said Taylor shall properly <lb/>
                        demean himself and be of good behavior <lb/>
                        during his residence in this State then <lb/>
                        this bond to be null and void otherwise <lb/>
                        to remain in full force and virtue
                    </p>
