                    <p>Know all men my these presents that I <persName>Betsy<lb/>
                    Woodsides</persName> as principal and <persName>
                     <sic>Davd</sic>Keith</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    as security are held and firmly bound unto the<lb/>
                    State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the just and full<lb/>
                        sum of four hundred dollars that is to say the said <lb/>
                        <persName>Betsy Woodsides</persName> and the said <persName>David Keith</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    in the sum of two hundred dollars<lb/>
                    each for the true payment of which we bind our-<lb/>
                    selves our and each of our heirs executors ad-<lb/>
                    ministrators and <choice>
                     <orig>afsigns</orig>
                     
                  </choice> jointly and severally firmly<lb/>
                    by these presents sealed with our seals and<lb/>
                    dated this <date when="1843-05-03"> third day of May in the year of<lb/>
                    our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and<lb/>
                    forty three.</date>

                    <p>The condition of the above obli-<lb/>
                    gation is such whereas the said <persName>Betsy<lb/>
                    Woodsides</persName> has this day obtained from the County<lb/>
                    Court of St Louis County a License to remain in<lb/>
                    this state under the provisions of act of <lb/>
                    the General <choice>
                     <orig>Afsembly</orig>
                     
                  </choice> of the state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>
                  <lb/>
                    entitled "an act more effectually to prevent<lb/>
                    free persons of color from entering into this<lb/>
                        State and for other purposes" appeared the<lb/>
                        <date when="1943-02-23">twenty third day of February in the year of <lb/>
                        Our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and<lb/>
                            forty three</date>. Now if the said <persName>Betsy Woodsides</persName>
                  <lb/>
                        shall be of good behaviour during the conti<lb/>
                        nuance of said License them the above<lb/>
                        obligation to be void else to be and remain <lb/>
                        in full force</p>
