                    <p>Know all Persons by these presents <lb/>
                        that I <persName>William Ridout</persName> Principal <lb/>
                        &amp; <persName>Isaac Vanstouten</persName> Security are held <lb/>
                        &amp; firmly Bound to the State of <lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> as follows the said <persName>William <lb/>
                        Ridout</persName> in the sum of two hundred <lb/>
                        dollars for the payment of which <lb/>
                        sum of money to be paid faithfully <lb/>
                        by ourselves Administrators &amp; executors <lb/>
                        by these presents sealed and dayed <lb/>
                        this <date when="1843-06-26">26 day of June 1843</date> the County Court of <lb/>
                        the County of Saint Louis granted a <lb/>
                        license to the said <persName>William Ridout</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        to remain in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> 
                  <lb/>
                        so long as he shall be of good beha- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        viour in accordance with an act <lb/>
                        entitled an act more effectually <lb/>
                        to prevent free Persons of colour from <lb/>
                        entering <add place="above">into</add> this state and for other purposes approved <lb/>
                        <date when="1843-02-23">Feb 23, 1843</date>_ more now if the said <persName>William Ridout</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        shall conduct himself well &amp; be of good behaviour <lb/>
                        during his continuance of the above <del rend="strikethrough">
                     <unclear unit="word" quantity="1"/>
                  </del> license <lb/>
                        in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> then this obligation to be <lb/>
                        void otherwise to remain in full force and <lb/>
                        effect
