                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we<lb/>
                        <persName>John Roland</persName> as principal and<lb/>
                        Daniel Murphy_____ as security are held<lb/>
                        and firmly bound unto the state of <lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the sum of two hundred<lb/>
                        dollars to the payment of which we bind<lb/>
                        ourselves, ourheirs, executors and ad=<lb/>
                        ministrators and each and every of them<lb/>
                        firmly by their presents,sealed with <lb/>
                        our seals and dated this <date when="1843-05-03"> third day<lb/>
                        of May in the year Eighteen hundred<lb/>
                        and forty-three</date>
               </p>
                    <p>The condition of this obligation is<lb/>
                        such that wherease on the <date when="1843-05-03">third day<lb/>
                            of May of the year above written</date>  the count<lb/>
                        y court of the County of st Louis and<lb/>
                        state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> granted to the said<lb/>
                        John Roland a license to reside<lb/>
                        within said state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>__Now if <lb/>
                        the said <persName>John Roland</persName> shall during his residence in said state will de=<lb/>
                        port and conduct himself as a good <lb/>
                        and orderly citizen then is this obligation<lb/>
                        to be voide, otherwise to remain in full<lb/>
                        force and effect in law_</p>
