                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>Dolly Williams</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    as principal and <persName>Thomas Andrews</persName> as security are held and<lb/>
                    firmly bound unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> as follows the said<lb/>
                    <persName>Dolly Williams</persName> in the sum of Two hundred dollars and the <lb/>
                        said <persName>Thomas Andrews</persName> in the sum of Two hundred dollars<lb/>
                    for the payment whereof well and truly to be made we bind<lb/>
                    oruselves our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these<lb/>
                    presents Sealed with our seals and dated at St. Louis this<lb/>
                    <date when="1843-12-16">sixteenth day of December AD 1844</date>
               </p>
                    <p>The above obligation is such that whereas on the<lb/>
                        <date when="1844-12-16">sixteenth day of December eighteen hundred + forty four</date>
                  <lb/>
                    the County Court of St. Louis County hath granted a license to the <lb/>
                        said <persName>Dolly Williams</persName> a free negro woman to remain in the<lb/>
                    State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> so long as she shall be of good behaviour<lb/>
                    in accordance with an act entitled "an act more effectually<lb/>
                    to prevent free persons of color from entering into this State<lb/>
                        and for other purposes" approved <date when="1843-02-23">Feb. 23 1843</date>.</p>
                    <p>Now if the above bounden <persName>Dolly Williams</persName>shall well<lb/>
                    demean &amp; conduct herself &amp; be of good behavior during the<lb/>
                    Continuance fo the above license in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>
                  <lb/>
                    then this obligation to be void else to remain in full<lb/>
                    force and virtue</p>
