                    <p>Know all men by these presents that<lb/>
                    we <persName>Albert Burges</persName> as principal and<lb/>
                    <persName>Richard Lockhart</persName> as security are<lb/>
                    held &amp; firmly bound unto the state<lb/>
                    of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the sum of four<lb/>
                    Hundred Dollars, that is to say<lb/>
                    <persName>Albert Burges</persName> is bound in the sum<lb/>
                    of Two Hundred Dollars_ and the <lb/>
                    said Richard Lockwood is bound<lb/>
                    is the sum of Two Hundred dollars<lb/> for the payment of which well &amp;<lb/>
                    truly to be made we bind our<lb/>
                        selves, our heirs, executors, administra<lb/>
                    tors and each and every of  these firmly <lb/>
                    by these presents, sealed with<lb/>
                        our seals &amp; dated this <date when="1843-05-04">fouth<lb/>
                        day of May AD Eighteen Hundred <lb/>
                        &amp; forty three</date>
               </p>
                    <p>The condition of this ob-<lb/>
                        ligation is such that whereas<lb/>
                        the county court of st Louis County<lb/>
                        has granted to the said <persName>Albert Burges</persName>
                  <lb/>
                        a license to reside in this state<lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>: Now if the said <persName> Albert<lb/>
                        Burges</persName>, during his residence in<lb/>
                        said state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, shall<lb/>
                        be of good behaviour, then <lb/>
                        this obligation to be void, other<lb/>
                        wise to remain in full force<lb/>
                        &amp; virtue in Law</p>
