Know all men by these presents. But we

family friend am obliged to the State of
in the full sum of four hundred dollars to wit
the law Thomas as principal in the sum of
two hundred Dollars for himself and the said
two hundred Dollars for himself to the payment
of which we do bind our heirs executors and
administrators firmly by these presents
with of our hands and seals this
May in the year of our Lord on thousand Eight
hundred + forty three
The condition of this obligation is such
that whereas the said
day applied to the County Court of St St Louis County
in the State of Missouri for License to reside
in the said state as a free negro under the
provision of an act of the Legistature of Missouri
entitled as act more effectually to prevent
free persons of color from entering into the
state and for other purposes approved
Now if the said
behavior during the continuance of said License
than this Bond shall be void, otherwise to remain
in good and full force and virtue
