                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we<lb/>
                        <persName>John Draper</persName> and <persName>Thomas Clarkson</persName> are held<lb/>
                        &amp; firmly bound, unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>

                        in the sum of two hundred dollars <lb/>
                        for the true payment of which sum <lb/>
                        we bind ourselves, our heirs, Executors + admin<lb/>
                        istrators  firmly by these presents Sealed with our<lb/> 
                        Seals and dated this <date when="2012-05-03">3rd</date> day<lb/>
                        of May in the year of our Lord<lb/>
                        1843<lb/>
               </p>
                     <p>Now the condition of this above obligation<lb/>
                        is such that whereas the County Court for the<lb/>
                        County of Saint Louis &amp; State <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> has <lb/>
                        this day granted to the said <persName>John Draper</persName>
                  <lb/>
                        a free man of Color, a license to reside<lb/>
                        in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>. Now if the said <lb/>
                        <persName>John Draper</persName> shall properly <sic>dimean</sic> himself<lb/>
                        and continence &amp; be of good behaviour, then<lb/>
                        this obligation to be null &amp; void, otherwise to<lb/>
                        remain in full force &amp; virtue</p>
