                    <p>Know all men by these prsents that we <persName>Jane Brack- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        enridge</persName> as principal and <persName>
                     <del rend="strikethrough">Mic</del> Michael Ziegler</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security are held and firmly bound each unto the <lb/>
                        State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the just and full sum of Two <lb/>
                        Hundred dollars for the true payment of which sum of <lb/>
                        money we bind ourselves and each our heirs, executors ad- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        ministrators and <choice>
                     <orig>afsigns</orig>
                     
                  </choice> jointly and severally by these pre- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        sents, sealed with our seals and dated this <date when="1844-03-04">fourth day of <lb/>
                        March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty-four</date>
                    </p>
                    <p>The condition of this obligation is such that whereas <persName>Jane <lb/>
                        Brackenridge</persName> has this day obtained from the County Court of <lb/>
                        Saint Louis County a license to remain in the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mif- <lb rend="hyphen"/> souri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>
                        as a free person of color under the provisions of an act <lb/>
                        entitled "An act more effectually to prevent free persons <lb/>
                        of color from entering into the State and other purposes" <lb/>
                    </p>
                    <p>Now the condition of this Bond is such that if the said <lb/>
                        <persName>Jane Brackenridge</persName> shall be of good behaviour, then the <lb/>
                        above obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain <lb/>
                        in full force and virtue in law
                    </p>
