                    <p>Know all men by these presents that I <persName>Elizabeth <lb/>
                        Johnson</persName> as principal &amp; <persName>Archibald Gamble</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as security are held and firmly bound to the <lb/>
                        State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the sum of four <lb/>
                        hundred dollars that to say the said <persName>Eliza <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        -beth Johnson</persName> in the sum of two hundred <lb/>
                        dollars and the said <persName>Archibald Gamble</persName> in <lb/>
                        the sum of two hundred dollars to the pay- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        ment whereof we hereby bind ourselves by <lb/>
                        these presents_
                    </p>
                    <p>The condition of this obligation is <lb/>
                        such that whereas the said <persName>Elizabeth</persName> has <lb/>
                        this day been licensed to reside in the State <lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> by the County Court of the <lb/>
                        County of S Louis as is provided by law <lb/>
                        Now if the said <persName>Elizabeth</persName> shall be of <lb/>
                        good behavior then this obligation to <lb/>
                        be void else to remain in full force
                    </p>
                    <p>Given under our hands &amp; seals <lb/>
                        at S Louis this <date when="1843-05-04">4<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> day of May 1843</date>
