                    <p>Know all men by these presents<lb/>
                        that we <persName>John Johnson</persName> as principal<lb/>
                        and <persName>Green Erskine as security are</persName>held<lb/>
                        and firmly bound unto the State of <lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, in the  sum of two hundred<lb/>
                        dollars to the payment of  which we bind<lb/>
                    ourselves, our heirs, executors and ad-<lb/>
                    ministrators and each and every of them <lb/>
                    firmly by their presents, sealed with<lb/>
                    our seals and dated this<date when="1843-05-03"> third day<lb/>
                    of May in the year Eighteen hundred and forty three</date>
               </p>
                    <p>The condition of this obligation is<lb/>
                    such that whereas in the third day<lb/>
                    of May of the year above written the <lb/>
                    county clourt of teh county of St. Louis<lb/>
                        and State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> granted to the<lb/>
                    said <persName>John Johnson</persName> a license to reside<lb/>
                        within said State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>_Now if<lb/>
                    the said <persName>John Johnson</persName> shall during his residence in said state, will <lb/> 
                    and conduct himself as a good and orderly citizen then this obligation <unclear unit="chars" quantity="2"/>-<lb/>
                        <unclear unit="chars" quantity="4"/>to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect in law.</p>
