                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <lb/>
                        <persName>James Wiggins</persName> and <persName>Thomas Lee</persName> are held and <lb/>
                        firmly bound unto the State of Missouri in the <lb/>
                        sum of four hundred dollars that is to say <lb/>
                        the said <persName>James Wiggins</persName> in the sum of two hun- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        dred dollars and the said <persName>Thomas Lee</persName> in the <lb/>
                        sum of two hundred dollars. The condition of <lb/>
                        the above obligation is such that whereas the <lb/>
                        above named <persName>James Wiggins</persName> a man of color <lb/>
                        has this day obtained from the County Court <lb/>
                        of the County of St Louis a license to reside <lb/>
                        in the State of Missouri <del rend="strikethrough">Now if the said</del>
                    </p>
                    <p>Now if the said <persName>James Wiggins</persName> shall be of <lb/>
                        good behavior then this obligation to be null <lb/>
                        and void otherwise to remain in full force <lb/>
                        and virtue
