William Clark endorsee of Forgus Moorhead by William C Carr his attorney complains of Samuel Hammond in a plea of trespass on the case for that whereas the said Samuel the defendant on the fourteenth day of November eighteen hundred & eleven at the District of St. Louis at the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of the court made his due where by he acknowledges there was due of owing to the above mentioned Forgus Moorhead or order one hundred & eight dollars fifty cents and afterwards the contents of said due bill being then due & unpaid the said Forgus Moorhead by an endorsement on the back of said due bill directed & ordered the same to be paid to William Clark the plaintiff of which the defendant had notice and by reason whereof he became liable to pay to the plaintiff the said sum of money agreeably to the of said due bill & the the same made so liable in consideration thereof and & there undertook & promised to pay the same on demand. Nevertheless, the said defendant the often requested not paid the aforesaid sum of one hundred & eight dollars fifty cents money part thereof the same to pay wholy refuse to the plaintiffs damage two hundred dollars therefore he sues.

You are hereby commanded to Summons - Samuel Hammond if he may be found in your bailiwick that be and appear before the Judges of our Court of Common Pleas on the first Monday of March next then there to answer unto William Clark endorser of Forgus Moorhead in a plea of trespass on the case to the damage of the said William Clark the sum of two hundred Dollars and have you then there this writ
