                    <p>Know all men by these presents that I, <persName>Charles Jackson</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    as principal and I, John R. Jones as security are<lb/>
                        held and firmly bound to the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in teh sum of<lb/>
                    Two hundred dollars for the payment of which sum well and<lb/>
                    truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and legal representatives.__</p>
                    <p>The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas <lb/>
                    the County Court of teh County of Saint Louis has this day granted<lb/>
                    license to the said <persName>Charles Jackson</persName> to reside in the State of <lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> so long as he shall be of good behavior, in ac-<lb/>
                    cordance with an act entitled "an act more effectually to prevent<lb/>
                    free persons of color from entering this State and for other<lb/>
                    purposes approved February 23d 1843_ Now if the above<lb/>
                    bounden <persName>Charles Jackson</persName> shall be of good behavior, as re-<lb/>
                        quired by said act, then this bond to be void and of no<lb/>
                    effect otherwise to remain in full force and virtue._</p>
                    <p>In testimony whereof we hereto set our hands and<lb/>
                    seals at St. Louis this <date when="1843-06-21">twenty first day of June A.D.<lb/>
                        eighteen hundred and forty three</date>
