                    <p>Know all men by these presents that I <persName>Robert<lb/>
                    Smith</persName> as principal and <persName>Samuel Maxwell</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    as security are held and firmly bound unto the <lb/>
                    State of Missouri each in the sum of two hund<lb/>
                    red Dollars well and truly to be paid we hereby<lb/>
                        bind <sic>ourselfs</sic> our heirs executors and adminis<lb/>
                        trators the condition of this Obligation is this<lb/>
                    that wherein the county court of St Louis county<lb/>
                    and State of Missouri have this day Granted unto<lb/>
                    said <persName>Robert Smith</persName> a License under the provision <lb/>
                    of an act of the state legistlature of said State <sic>aproved</sic>
                  <lb/>
                    <date when="1843-02-23">February 23d 1843</date> now that the said <persName>Robert Smith</persName>
                  <lb/>
                    Shall be of Good behavior <sic>acording</sic> to the intent<lb/>
                        and meaning of said act of the legistlature <sic>afforsaid</sic>
                  <lb/>
                    then this <sic>obbligation</sic> to be null and void otherwise<lb/>
                    to remain and be in full force virtue</p>
                    <p>
                        Witness our hands and seals this <date when="1844-06-04">fourth day</date>
                  <lb/>
