                    <p>Know all men by these presents that I <persName>William<lb/>
                        Narcies</persName> as principal and <persName>Louis Charleville</persName>
                  <lb/>
                        as security are held and firmly bound unto<lb/>
                        the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the just and full sum of <lb/>
                        four hundred dollars that is to say the said <persName>William<lb/>
                        Narcies</persName> in the sum of two hundred dollars and<lb/>
                        the said <persName>Louis Charleville</persName> in the sum of two<lb/>
                        hundred dollars for the true payment of which<lb/>
                        said sums of money we bind ourselves our and<lb/>
                        each of our heirs executors administrators and<lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>asfigns</orig>
                     
                  </choice> jointly and severally firmly by these payments<lb/>
                        sealed with our seals and dated this <date when="1943-05-03"> third day <lb/>
                        of May in the year of our Lorde one thousand<lb/>
                        eight hundred and forty three.</date>
               </p>
                    <p>The condiiton of the above obligation<lb/>
                        is such whereas the said <persName>William Narcies</persName> has<lb/>
                        this day obtained from the county court of <lb/>
                        St. Louis County a license to remain n this state<lb/>
                        under the provisions of an act of the General<lb/>
                        <choice>
                     <orig>Afsembly</orig>
                     
                  </choice> of the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> entitled "An<lb/>
                        act more effectually to prevent free persons of <lb/>
                        color from cominginto the state and for other purposes<lb/>
                        Now if the said <persName>William Narcies</persName> shall be of <lb/>
                        good behaviour during the continuance of said<lb/>
                        license then the above obligation to be void else<lb/>
                        to be and remain in full force and virtue</p>
