                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>Charles <lb/>
                    Moore</persName> as principal and <persName>Henry Morgan</persName> as security <lb/>
                        are held and firmly bound unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> 
                  <lb/>
                        <del rend="strikethrough">are held and firmly bound</del> in the sum of Two hund- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        red Dollars to be well and truly paid unto the <lb/>
                        said state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, to which payment well <lb/>
                        and truly to be made, we do bind ourselves <lb/>
                        our heirs, executors administrators and each and every <lb/>
                        of them firmly by these presents_ Sealed with our <lb/>
                        seals and dated this <date when="1843-05-02">second day of May AD Eighteen <lb/>
                        hundred and forty three</date>_ The condition of this oblig- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        ation is such, that whereas the county Court of St Louis <lb/>
                        County has this day granted to the said <persName>Charles Moore</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        a free man of color, a license to reside within this <lb/>
                        State_ Now therefore if the said <del rend="strikethrough">Richard <unclear unit="chars" quantity="1" rend="written"/>
                  </del> 
                  <persName>Charles <lb/>
                        Moore</persName> during his residence within the said State <lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> shall well deport and conduct him- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        self in an honest, moral, sober and upright <lb/>
                        manner as a good and orderly citizen of said <lb/>
                        state, then this obligation to be void otherwise <lb/>
                        to remain in full force and effect in law
