                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <persName>Eliza<lb/>
                        Tindell</persName>___________ as principal and <persName>John<lb/>
                        Cavender</persName> as security are held and firmly bound<lb/>
                        in the just and full sum of two ___ Hundred<lb/>
                        dollars, each, to the State of Missouri, the pay=<lb/>
                        ment wereof well and truly to be made we bind<lb/>
                        ourselves our heirs executors and administrators firmly<lb/>
                        by these presents:
                        The Condition of this obligation is such that<lb/>
                        whereas the said <persName>Eliza Tindell</persName> has this day<lb/>
                        obtained from the Honorable the County Court of St<lb/>
                        Louis County a License to reside and remainin the <lb/>
                        State of Missouri as a free person of color under the <lb/>
                        provisions of an act entitled "A Act to prevent<lb/>
                        more effectually  free persons of color from entering<lb/>
                        into the State and for other purposes" Approved <lb/>
                        <date when="1843-02-23">February 23. 1843</date>.
                    </p>
                    <p>Now if the said <persName>Eliza Tindell</persName> shall be<lb/>
                    of good behavior during the continuance of said<lb/>
                    License thenthe above obligation is void otherwise<lb/>
                    to remain in full force and virtue.</p>
