                    <p>Know all men by these Presents that <persName>Harriet Burnes</persName>
                  <lb/>
                       a free woman of color as principal + <persName>William B. Richardson</persName>
                  <lb/>
                     as security are held and firmly bound unto the State of <lb/>
                    <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the penal sum of four hundred Dollars<lb/>
                    that is to say said <unclear unit="chars" quantity="9" rend="strikethrough"/> in the sum of two hundred<lb/>
                    as principal + said Richardson int eh sum of<lb/>
                    two hundred as security to the payment of<lb/>
                    which sum full and truly to be made the said <lb/>
                    Harriet as principal + the said Richardson as<lb/>
                    security hereby bind themselves, their heirs executors <lb/>
                    and administrators firmly by their presents sealed with<lb/>
                    our seals and dated this <date when="1843-05-02"> 2 day of May 1843</date>
                  <lb/>
                    But this Bond is made upon this condition <lb/>
                    that where as the county court of Saint Louis County<lb/>
                    is about to grant the said Harriet license to<lb/>
                    remain in the state of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> according to<lb/>
                    the Statute in such case made and provided<lb/>
                    now of the said Harriet shall be of good behavior<lb/>
                    while whe remain in said state the this bond<lb/>
                    to be void otherwise to remain in full force
                    </p>
