Sparhawk</persName> <lb/> as security are held and firmly bound unto <sic>to</sic> the <lb/> State of <choice> <orig>Mifsouri</orig> </choice> to wit <persName>Norvell Buckner</persName> as principal <lb/> in the sum of two hundred dollars and <persName>George W. <lb/> Sparhawk</persName> as security in the like sum of two hundred <lb/> dollars for the true payment of which sum of money <lb/> we bind ourselves our executors administrators and <lb/> <choice> <orig>afsigns</orig> </choice> jointly and severally by these presents sealed <lb/> with our seals and dated <date when="1843-06-21">twenty first day of June <lb/> in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and <lb/> forty three</date> </p> <p>The condition of this obligation is such that <lb/> whereas <persName>Norvell Buckner</persName> has this day obtained from <lb/> the County Court of St Louis County a license <lb/> to remain in this State as a free person of color <lb/> under the provisions of an act entitled an act <lb/> more effectually to prevent free persons of color <lb/> from entering into this State and other purposes <lb/> approved <date when="1843-02-23">23 day of February 1843</date> </p> <p>Now the condition of this bond is such that <lb/> if the said <persName>Norvell Buckner</persName> shall be of good <lb/> behaviour during the continuance of said license <lb/> then the above obligation to be void, otherwise <lb/> to remain in full force and virtue </p> <closer> Done in presence of <lb/> <signed>W.W.
