                  </unclear> a mulatto woman<lb/> aged about nineteen years respectfully represents<lb/> that she is now held in slavery in the County<lb/> aforesaid by John Pitcher that the verily believes<lb/> that she is entitled to freedom, and she prays<lb/> the said Court for leave to <unclear rend="written" unit="chars"/>, the said Pitcher, as<lb/> a poor person, in order to establish her right to freedome.<lb/> Your petitioner states, as the ground on which her<lb/> claim to freedome is founded, that about eight years<lb/> ago, then being the slave of Danel D. Page, of <placeName>

                  </unclear> by said<lb/> Page as a waiter and servant in attendance upon the<lb/> wife of said Page, who accompained <unclear rend="written" unit="chars">

                  <lb/> certainty, she states, that it was in the year, that the<lb/> Catholic <unclear rend="written" unit="chars">
                     <supplied>convent</supplied>
                  </unclear> was burnt down at Charliston<lb/> in said Past named state, by a <unclear rend="written" unit="chars">
                     <supplied>mob</supplied>
                  </unclear>, and that petitioner<lb/> being there in <placeName>

                  <lb/> her in slavery - Petitioner states that slavery is not<lb/> allowed to exist in the state of <placeName>
