                    <p>Know all Men by these Presents, <lb/>
                        that we <persName>Augustus Lavey</persName> as prin- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        cipal, and <persName>Hugh Rose</persName> as secu- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        rity, are held and firmly bound <lb/>
                        unto the State of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice> in the pe- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        nal sum of two hundred dollars <lb/>
                        for the payment of which sum well <lb/>
                        and truly to be made they hereby <lb/>
                        bind themselves, their heirs, executors <lb/>
                        and administrators, firmly by these pre- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        sents, sealed with our seals and dated this <lb/>
                        <date when="1843-05-02">second day of May, one thousand eight <lb/>
                        hundred and forty-three</date>.                    
                    </p>
                    <p>The conditions of the above obliga- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        tion is such, that, whereas, the county court <lb/>
                        of Saint Louis County, have granted, al- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        lowed and given to the above bounden <lb/>
                        <persName>Augustus Lavey</persName>, a license to <lb/>
                        reside and remain in the State <lb/>
                        of <choice>
                     <orig>Mifsouri</orig>
                     
                  </choice>, according to law: Now, if <lb/>
                        the said <persName>Augustus Lavey</persName>, shall be <lb/>
                        and remain of good behavior while <lb/>
                        and so long as he may and shall re- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        main, reside or be in the state above <lb/>
                        said, then this obligation to be void_ <lb/>
                        otherwise to be in full force.
