                    <p>Know all men by these presents that we <lb/>
                        <persName>Ellen Clay</persName> as principal and <persName>Thomas Walsh</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        <del rend="strikethrough">Moore</del> and <persName>Nicholaus Wachner</persName> 
                  <lb/>
                        as securities are held and firmly <lb/>
                        bound unto the State of Missouri in the just <lb/>
                        and full sum of one thousand <add place="above">dollars</add> for the <lb/>
                        payment whereof we do hereby bind ourselves <lb/>
                        our heirs, executors and administrators, <lb/>
                        sealed with our seals and dated this <date when="1846-12-10">tenth <lb/>
                        day of December eighteen hundred and <lb/>
                        forty six</date>. The condition of this obligation is <lb/>
                        such that whereas the said <persName>Ellen</persName> has <lb/>
                        applied for and obtained a license to reside <lb/>
                        in the State of Missouri during good behavior <lb/>
                        Now therefore if the said Ellen shall be <lb/>
                        of good behavior during her residence in <lb/>
                        this State, then this obligation shall be void <lb/>
                        else of full force and effect
