Sealed with our seals, dated this <lb/> <date when="1844-03-29">Twenty ninth day of March in the year of our Lord <lb/> eighteen hundred and forty four_</date> </p> <p>Now the condition of this obligation is such that <lb/> whereas the said <persName>Matilda Butler</persName> hath this day obtained <lb/> a license, from the County Court of St Louis County, under <lb/> an act entitled "An act more effectually to prevent <lb/> free persons of color from entering into this State and <lb/> for other purposes" to reside in the State of <choice> <orig>Mifsouri</orig> </choice> <lb/> as a free colored person.
