                    <p>To all who shall see these presents--Greeting:<lb/> Know Ye, that <seg rend="form-fill-in">
                     <persName>Mary Ann Johnson</persName>
                  </seg> aged <seg rend="form-fill-in">twenty three</seg>, <lb/> years, <seg rend="form-fill-in">Five</seg> feet <seg rend="form-fill-in">one</seg> inches high,
                        <seg rend="form-fill-in">Large scar across<lb/> the left arm. at the elbow. washer by occupation,<lb/> daughter of Matilda Reed. + Wife of Edw Johnson</seg>
                  <lb/> 
                  <unclear unit="chars" quantity="19" rend="strikethrough">and by occupation a</unclear> 
                  <seg rend="form-fill-in">+ who was emancipated in 1845 by A.E. Janny in the Circuit Court</seg>
                  <lb/> having on the <seg rend="form-fill-in">
                     <date when="1860-11-02">Second</date>
                  </seg> day
                        of <date when="1860-11-02">
                     <seg rend="form-fill-in">November</seg> in the
                            <lb/> year of our Lord eighteen hundred and <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">forty</unclear> 
                     <seg rend="form-fill-in">sixty</seg>
                  </date> produced satisfactory <lb/>
                        evidence before the Board of County <unclear unit="chars" quantity="6" rend="strikethrough">Court</unclear> Commissioners of said county,
                        that <seg rend="form-fill-in">s</seg>he is of the class of<lb/> free negros and mulattoes who are
                        authorized by law to be licensed by said <lb/>
                        <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">Court</unclear>
                        Board to reside within the State of Missouri; that he is of good
                        charac-<lb/>ter and behavior, and capable of supporting <seg rend="form-fill-in">her</seg> self by lawful employment;<lb/> and having
                        also obtained from said <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">Court</unclear> Board an order for a license to
                        reside <lb/> within the State aforesaid; These are, therefore, to license and
                        authorize the<lb/> said <seg rend="form-fill-in">Mary Ann Johnson</seg> to
                        reside within the State <lb/> aforesaid, so long as <seg rend="form-fill-in">s</seg>he shall be of good behavior, and
                        no longer. </p>

                    <p>In Testimony Whereof, I. <unclear unit="chars" quantity="13" rend="strikethrough">Lewis F. Lacy</unclear> Samuel W. Eager Jr. Secretary of the<lb/> Board
                        <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">Clerk</unclear> of the County <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">Court</unclear> Commissioners of said
                        County, have here-<lb/> unto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Board <unclear unit="chars" quantity="5" rend="strikethrough">Court</unclear> at<lb/>
