                    <p>Know all men by these presents that <persName>Anthony</persName> sometimes <lb/>
                        called <persName>Anthony Reese</persName> a free person of Colour as principal <lb/>
                        and <persName>Charles S Rannells</persName> as security are held and firmly <add place="above">bound</add> 
                  <lb/>
                        unto the State of Missouri in the penal sum of two hun <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        -dred dollars <del rend="strikethrough">which said sum</del> to the payment of which <lb/>
                        sum well and truly to be made the said <persName>Anthony</persName> as prin <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        -cipal and the said <persName>Charles S Rannells</persName> as security here <lb/>
                        by bind themselves their heirs executors and adminis <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        -trators firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and <lb/>
                        dated this <date when="1843-05-01">1<hi rend="superscript">st</hi> dat of May 1843</date>
                    </p>
                    <p>But this Bond is made upon this condition that where- <lb rend="hyphen"/>
                        as the County Court of St Louis County is about to grant <lb/>
                        the said <persName>Anthony</persName> license to remain in the state of <lb/>
                        Missouri according to the statute in such case made <lb/>
                        and provided Now if the said <persName>Anthony</persName> shall be of good <lb/>
                        behaviour while he remains in said state then this <lb/>
                        Bond to be void otherwise to remain in full force
