In the court of common pleas of the District of
S Louis of the term of July in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and nine St Louis
District .

Webster plaintiff complains of George Druillard
defendant of a plea of trespass on the case for that
whereas the said defendant and the first day
of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and nine at the town of S. Louis
in the District of S. Louis and within the jurisdiction
of this court made his certain promissory note in
writing, hearing date the day and year aforesaid, and
there then delivered the said state to said plaintiff
and thereby in the words and figures following
to Wit. " S Louis June 1st 1809.”

“due or demand eighty five
dollars 62 cents on settlement”

demand
by reason whereof and by force of the statute in
case made and provided he the said defendant
liable to pay to the said plaintiff the said sum mentioned in
the said Note according to the tenor and effect of said Note
and being so liable he's the said defendant in consideration
thereof of the courts to wit-on the same day in the year at the
places and within the jurisdiction aforesaid undertook and
there then faithfully promised the said plaintiff to pay him the
said sum of money mentioned in the said note according to the said defendant
the time and effect of the said note and whereas afterwards
to wit-on the same day and year at the places and within
the jurisdiction last aforesaid was indebted to the said plain-
tiff in the sum of one hundred dollars for money by
the said plaintiff before that time said laid out and ex-
pended for the said defendant at his special instance
and request and for other money before that time had and
received by the said defendant to the use of said plaintiff
and for other money by the said plaintiff before then
